Main Point in Brief:

The total number of the actual population of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea according to the data of the All-Ukrainian census of the population, accounted for 2033,7 thousand persons.

The number of the urban population according to the data of the All-Ukrainian census of the population ’2001 accounted for 1,274,300 persons, or 62.7% and that of the rural population - the 759,400 people or 37.3%.

According to the data of the All-Ukrainian census of the population, the number of men totaled 937,600 people or 46.1% that of women - 1,096,100 people or 53.9%.

During the years that have passed since the census of the population in 1989, the number of towns in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea has increased by 2 and on the date of the All-Ukrainian census of the population it was 16 towns. Among them 5 towns numbered more than 50,000 inhabitants.

The total number of the permanent population of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea accounted for 2,024,000 people including men - 931,400 people or 46.0%, women - 1,092,600 people or 54.0%; the urban population - 1,258,700 people or 62.2%, the rural population - 765,300 people or 37.8%.

The peculiarity of the national structure of the population of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea is its multinational composition. According to the data of the All-Ukrainian census of the population, the representatives of more than 125 nationalities and ethnic groups live on the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
