About number and composition population of L'VIV REGION
by data All-Ukrainian population census 2001
The number of the urban population, according to the All-Ukrainian Population Census data, accounted for 1,558.7 thousand persons or 59.3%,and that of the rural population - 1,067.8 thousand people or 40.7%. Since 1989 urban population has decreased by 71.8 thousand people and rural by – 49.4 thousand people, but they still are in the same ratio.

The part of urban population has increased in 15 districts of region, decreased – in 5 districts of region. Especially high level of this index was in Mykolaiv district, Yavoriv district, Brody district, low level was in Drohobych, Stryi, Pustomyty districts.
