About number and composition population of CHERNIVTSI REGION
by data All-Ukrainian census of the population 2001
The number of the urban population according to the data of the All-Ukrainian census of the population ’2001, accounted for 373.5 thousand persons, or 40.5% and that of rural population - the 549.3 thousand persons or 59.5%.
Compared with 1989, urban population decreased by 21.5 thousand persons, rural population increase – by 6.3 thousand persons.
