Foregoing data say about gradual decrease in gender disproportion in the population of Odesa region, if in 1989 there were 1183 women per 1000 men, than in 2001 – 1176. These changes are explained by changes in gender structure of rural population, where since 1989 gender ratio has changed from 1201 women per 1000 men to 1164 women per 1000 men. In towns this index has increased from 1178 women per 1000 men in 1989 to 1179 women per 1000 men in 2001. Besides, according to the last census data, the proportion of women to men at the reproductive age become better, since the index, calculated like division of number of women in this age group by 1000 men in corresponding age, come to 1037.
