During the All-Ukrainian census of the population besides actual there have been accounted permanent population, which is used in calculations of indices, characterizing socio-economic structure of the population. Permanent population of region, at the date of 5 December 2001 accounted for 1926.8 thousand people, including men – 884.2 thousand people, or 45.9%, that of women – 1042.6 thousand people, or 54.1%, urban population – 1452.8 thousand people, or 75.4%, that of rural population – 474 thousand people, or 24.6%.
   Among permanent population citizens of Ukraine totalled 1,914.5 thousand people, citizens of other countries – 6.8 thousand people, including citizens of CIS – 6.3 thousand people. There were about 5 thousand persons without citizenship and those who haven’t specify their citizenship – more than 600 people.
