During the All-Ukrainian census of the population besides actual there have been accounted permanent population, which is used in calculations of indices, characterizing socio-economic structure of the population. Permanent population of Donets'k region, at the date of 5 December 2001 accounted for 4,825,600 people, including men - 2,210,400 people, or 45.8%, that of women - 2,615,200 people, or 54.2%, urban population – 4,345,400 people, or 90%, that of rural population – 480,200 people, or 10%.
   Among permanent population citizens of Ukraine totalled 4,800,800 people, citizens of other countries – 13.3 thousand people, including citizens of CIS – 12.3 thousand people. There were about 8.9 thousand persons without citizenship and those who haven’t specify their citizenship – 2.6 thousand people.
