About number and composition population of CHERNIHIV REGION
by data All-Ukrainian census of the population 2001

   The peculiarity of the national structure of the population of Chernihiv region is its multinational composition. According to the data of All-Ukrainian census of the population, the representatives of more than 90 nationalities and ethnic groups lived on the territory region. Largest nationality of Chernihiv region present below:

Thus, in national composition of population of Chernihiv region majority share is Ukrainians. Between 1989 and 2001 number population those indicated that they were Ukrainians decreased by 10.6%. Number Russians compared with a census in 1989, decreased by 35.6%.
