About number and composition population of ZAKARPATTIA REGION
by All-Ukrainian Population Census' 2001
The total number of the actual populationof region, according to the data of the All-Ukrainian census of the population ‘2001, accounted for 1258.3 thousand persons, up 0.5 percent or by 6 thousand persons from the 1989 .
Region is characterized by high density of population, according to the data of the All-Ukrainian census of the population it accounted for 98 persons per sq. km, in Velykyi Bereznyi district – 35 persons per sq. km, Volovets' district - 51 persons per sq. km. In city with regional status - Berehovo –population density 2,720 persons per sq. km,in Khust - 3,240, м. Mukacheve - 2,733 persons per sq. km, in Uzhhorod – 2,933 persons per sq. km .
