According to the data of the All-Ukrainian census total number actual population of the Kyiv city, accounted for 2 million 611 thousand persons or 100.3% on 1989.
The population density was 3111 persons per sq. km2. Lowest density in Holosiivskyi borough – 1298 persons per sq. km2, Darnitskyi– 2113, Desnyanskyi– 2266 persons per sq. km2. Higest population density: Shevchenkivskyi-8918 persons per sq. km2, Solomianskyi– 7106, Pecherskyi– 6690, Podilskyi – 5307 persons per sq. km2.
