The total number of the actual population of the Kherson region, according to the All-Ukrainian population census‘2001 data, accounted for 1,175.1 thousand persons.
The region is characterized by low concentration of the population, which density almost 2 times lower than the average index in Ukraine. According to the All-Ukrainian population census data it accounted for 41 persons per sq. km.(80 persons per sq. km. - of Ukraine)
