About number and composition population of CHERNIVTSI REGION
by data All-Ukrainian Population Census '2001

   According to the data of the All-Ukrainian census total number actual population of the Chernivtsi region, accounted for 922.8 thousand persons.
Chernivtsi region is characterized by high population density. The population density was 114 persons per sq. km. The least population density is in Putyla district, where it makes up 29 persons per sq. km. The Kitsman' and Novoselytsia districts are the most densely populated, there this index makes up more than 119 persons per sq. km.
