During the years that have passed since the census of the population in 1989 year the number of towns increased by one and on the date of the All-Ukrainian census of the population it was 11 towns.
Among them 6 towns numbered less than 10,000 inhabitants, 4 towns numbered 10,000 - 15,000 inhabitants.Moreover the population of Chernivtsi city -240,000 people.
