About number and composition population of VOLYN REGION
by All-Ukrainian Population Census data

   The peculiarity of the national structure of the population of region is its multinational composition. According to the data of the All-Ukrainian population census, the representatives of more than 70 nationalities and ethnic groups live on the territory of the region.

    The below table present data on the nationality structure of the Volyn’ region population as compared to data from the previous census’1989:

   The part of Ukrainians in the national structure of the population of region is largest, it accounts for 1,025 thousand people, or 96.9% of the total number of population. During the years that have passed since the census of the population ‘1989, the number of Ukrainians has increased by 2.4% and their part among Volyn’ region citizens increased by 2.3 percentage points. By other most numeral nationalities was Russians, Belarussians and Poles. Since 1989 their number has markedly decreased.
