During the years that have passed since the population census ‘1989, the number of towns in region has increased by 2 and on the date of the All-Ukrainian population census ‘2001 there were 18 towns.
Most numerous towns of region:
227.8 thousand persons - Ternopil'
29.0 thousand persons - Chortkiv
22.0 thousand persons - Kremenets'
17.6 thousand persons - Berezhany
Other town with population :
from 10 to 15 thousand persons - towns: Borshchiv, Buchach, Zalishchyky, Zbarazh, Terebovlia;
from 5 to 10 thousand persons - towns: Kopychyntsi, Khorostkiv, Zboriv, Pochaiv, Lanivtsi, Shums'ka, Monastyrys'ka;
under 5 thousand persons - towns: Skalat, Pidhaitsi .
