Age group – is the total of people of the same age. Person’s age - is the period from the birth up to a definite moment of his life. To the group “ younger than able – to – work age ” belong persons of 0 – 15. to the “ able – to – work age ” belong
Actual population (DE FACTO POPULATION)– include all persons physically present in the country or area at the reference date, regardless of the place of their permanent residence.It includes visitors present but excludes residents temporarily absent.
The average number is the generalizing index of the number of the population for the whole considered period.
Basic Higher Education – marked about the persons who finished a college or other institutions of this kind or are still studying at an institution of higher education – an institute, conservatory, academy, university, etc and have obtained a bachelor’s degree.
Basic Secondary education – marked about the persons who finished school, and exactly : an 8 – year school in 1963 – 1989 and earlier, a 7 – year school in 1961 and earlier, Classes 8,9 in 1989 and earlier; Class 10 of the secondary school; Class 10 of the school ( except for the persons with secondary education ) ; who left Class 8 in 1959 – 1960 and earlier ; Classes 9 and 10 or a vocational school in any year ( except for the persons with secondary education).
 Citizenship - permanent legal relationship of a person towards the country which acknowledges his/her special legal status.
 Complete higher education – marked about the persons who graduated from an institute, conservatory, academy, university and other institutes of higher education that provide a qualification degree of a specialist and that of a master, and obtained a certificate.
Complete secondary education - marked about the persons who finished a senior school: of 11 years of studies, of 10 years of studies, a lyceum, a classic school
( also pre – revolutionary ), a vocational school, a commercial school, other secondary school
Household
is the person or group of person who occupy the same dwelling or its part, make their living, keep house together, completely or partially share and spend the money.
The household may consist of a family, of two or more families sharing a dwelling, of a group of unrelated persons or of a person living alone.
To the people living in communal households belong the residents of special institutions meant for collective accommodation ( children’s homes, boarding school for orphans and children left without the wardship of the parents, old people’s homes, disabled people’s home, monasteries, barracks, prisons etc ). The institutional population does not include the attending staff of communal households who can live on the premises of the above mentioned institutions.
Individual household is : the household consisting of one persons who lives in a separate accommodation building or its part, makes his own living and does not share the money for joint keeping house with any persons living in the accommodation building.
-the household that consists of two or more persons who live together in an accommodation building or its part, jointly keep house, completely or partially share and spend the money. The persons can be blood or law related, have both kinds of the relationship, or have no such relations.
Migratory movement – different kinds of territorial movement of the population.
Migration - movement of people into and out of Ukraine (external migration), and within the country (internal migration).
Nationality was registered according to the respondents’ word without written confirmation, the nationality of juveniles was defined by their parents. When it was difficult to define the nationality of a child, because the parents were of different nationalities, the preference was given to the nationality of the mother
As the native language was registered the language the respondents considered to be their native. The mother tongue of the children who could not speak yet and that of other juveniles was defined by parents.
Natural movement – the generalized definition of the total of birth and death rates, that alter the number of the population in the so called natural way.
Permanent population (DE JURE POPULATION) – the number of people living permanently on the territory of a definite settlement, irrespective of their presence at the moment of the registration.
Primary higher education – marked about the persons who finished a technical school, a vocational school and other institutions of first level of higher education or keep studying at an institute and obtained a certificate about the acquisition of a qualification degree of a junior specialist.
Primary secondary education – marked about the persons who finished the primary school or three classes in 1972 and later; 4 – 6 classes in any year; 7 classes in 1960 and later; 8 classes in 1990 and later; who are studying in Classes
5 – 9; who left Class 4 in 1972 – 1973 and later; Class 5 – 7 in any year; Class 8 in 1960 – 1961 and later; Class 9 in 1989 – 1990 and later.
Population Increase - The total population increase resulting from the interaction of births, deaths, and migration in a population in a given period of time.
Rate of Natural Increase (or Decrease) - The rate at which a population is increasing (or decreasing) in a given year due to a surplus (or deficit) of births over deaths, expressed as a percentage of the base population.
Birth Rate - The number of live births per 1,000 population in a given year.
Death Rate - The number of deaths per 1,000 population in a given year.
Growth Rate - The number of people added to (or subtracted from) a population in a year due to natural increase and net migration expressed as a percentage of the population at the beginning of the time period.
The population of the town’s council – the population of all the settlements that are administratively subordinated to the town’s council.
Unfinished higher education – marked about the persons who studied in an institute in 1996 and earlier, passed half or more of the course of studies, but did not finish it.
Urban and rural population. The urban population includes people living in towns and cities, the rural population – those living in the villages.
Vocational education – marked about the persons, who finished a secondary or vocational school, a handicraft school, a specialized vocational school, a technical school and other school of this kind that provide a profession, in any year and obtained a certificate.
